pics: Jeff Rosenstock packed Silent Barn w/ Camp Cope, who made their US debut

Having recently opened for Thursday‘s big show in Brooklyn’s McCarren Park, Jeff Rosenstock headlined a much smaller Brooklyn show at Silent Barn last night (7/5). It unsurprisingly sold out right away, and it was packed to the gills with the sweat-drenched crowd bouncing around the whole time. Jeff included a new song off his limited edition 7″ and mentioned on stage that Silent Barn feels like home to him, even though this was actually his first time playing this location of the venue. It was also the first Silent Barn show with a full bar — they got their liquor license — and the venue has been raising money due to that bar being delayed for so long (they were taking donations at the door last night).

The Silent Barn show was the start of Jeff’s tour, which includes several dates with Laura Stevenson, including a Jersey City show on August 9 at Monty Hall that has Thin Lips opening (sold out). All Jeff dates here.

The show was also the first-ever show outside of Australia for openers Camp Cope, who previously toured with Jeff in their home country. Camp Cope played stuff off of their great 2016 debut album (which will get a US release on Run For Cover in September), and they also played a new, unrecorded song about how the music industry is a boys club. People in the front were singing along to everything. They mentioned on stage how they never thought they’d play in New York City, and how they were so tired after having travel issues, including spending three hours in customs and losing their luggage. One member joked, “Is it possible to be too tired to play music?”

Camp Cope have more US dates coming up, including another in Brooklyn on July 14 at the Safari Room at El Cortez. That’s Katie Ellen‘s album release show, and also includes SideOneDummy signees Worriers and Thin Lips (tickets). All Camp Cope dates here.
